Lateral Buoy
Lateral buoys include starboard hand buoys and port hand buoys. It is one type of aids to navigation which helps travellers in navigation.
Port hand buoys and starboard hand buoys are set respectively on the left side and right side of a channel, marks the the left and right boundaries of the channel. Ships when travelling upstream should keep the port hand buoys and starboard hand buoys on your left side and right side.
Lateral markers use a conbination of colors and numbers to mark the edge of the channel.Numbers will increase consecutively as you travel in the upstream direction.
Lateral buoys are different due to the IALA standard. Uder the IALA B standard used in North and South America, when you are going to sea, the red ATON is on your right, and the green on your left. Under the IALA A standard used in Europe, America and most of Asia, the colors are reversed.
Features of Port Hand Buoys
1. Marking Direction: Left Side of the Channel
2. Color: Solid Green
3. Shape: Can, Pillar or Spar
4. Top Mark: Flat Top
5. Marking Number: Odd Numbers
Features of Starboard Hand Buoys
1. Marking Direction: Right Side of the Channel
2. Color: Solid Red
3. Shape: Conical, Pillar or Spar
4. Top Mark: A Conical Shape on Top
5. Marking Number: Even Numbers
Note: the diameter of the buoys is changable, which can be 0.8m, 1.0m, 1.2m etc.. It depends on the customer's specific need. We can also provide customized service for our customer in order to meet different requirements of the products.
